When constructing a building it is vital to have an accurate blueprint.
One of the pictures the Bible uses for the church is a building (Ephesians 2:20-22; 1 Corinthians 3:19). While every member of the body of Christ is important, the leaders of the church are especially so. The old adage, “Everything rises and falls upon leadership,” aptly applies to the house of God.
In His Word, the Lord has given us a blueprint for church leadership, but sometimes those who are elected to those positions bring secular frameworks that conflict with God’s principles. This manual has been designed to help pastors and board members share a biblical understanding of the roles of their positions and the purposes of the church. It also contains practical tools to conduct board meetings in a smooth, effective manner so that the church can move forward in unity and advance the Kingdom of Christ.
As part of an annual process, we recommend the pastor and entire board go through this manual after each annual business meeting election for board members. Not only is it an excellent resource for newly elected leaders, but a great refresher for those who are already serving.
